A Seattle, WA, facility was due for upgrades to modernize the structure. The buildout involved heavy interior work and some external, cosmetic enhancements. As the teams began the project, it became apparent that a vapor barrier was required, as the air quality inside the facility did not pass initial testing.

“Contamination was detected in the soil, likely from previous buildouts on the site, and so the client wanted to mitigate from the bottom up,” explains Chad Meiries, Account Manager, Division 9 Flooring, the EPRO Installer.

In tandem with the local EPRO team, it was determined that Geo-Seal EFC was the ideal fit for these specific conditions and for the end use of the building.

As an added bonus, the D9 team had their first experience working with EFC on this project and were able to use this as an on-the-job learning opportunity. Installation was ultimately a success.

“This was our first time working with Geo-Seal EFC and we quickly became familiar with the product. Plus, the EPRO team were right on hand to answer any questions,” says Meiries. “Ultimately, we found Geo-Seal efficient and easy to install - everything went smoothly.”

Geo-Seal EFC provides a cost-effective alternative to other coatings designed to mitigate vapor intrusion. It is a complete coating system specifically developed to mitigate vapor intrusion into existing structures.

Geo-Seal EFC is also designed to be a finished flooring system for commercial and industrial uses. Additional flooring options, such as carpet or vinyl flooring can be installed over the system. As an additional benefit, the product has no VOCs.
